Review — How to Find the Subject
In English exams, students often choose the most important noun.
But the subject is not the “important word” — it is the doer.
2-Step Method
- 1. Locate the main verb.
- 2. Ask: who or what does that verb?
Common Traps
- Objects (receive action)
- Words inside prepositional phrases (for, in, on, at)
- Adverbs (how, when, where)
If you cannot answer “who does the verb?”, you have not found the subject yet.
